I am sure we know of someone who has been a victim of office politics. Its hard when the politics are subtle and from someone with greater influence and of higher authority. When you begin to realise and feel you are unfortunate to be a victim involving in the likes of either sexual harrasment ; verbal abuse ; being the unfortunate department 's " whipping boy ", being accused of not being competent when tasks and responsibilities that belong to you your senior or been transferred to another department at the whim to suit a higher authority's personal agenda ...... how does one go about making good a case ? How does one measure or weigh the cost of being a victim whose emotional well being has been unbalanced? What if your immediate superior does not know the clear lines between abdicating and delegating? To what extent as a victim can you say enough is enough! and can you trust and turn to the Human Resource department to be neutral and unbiased?
Its a tough call when the odds are stacked against you and you feel that your colleagues are beginning to put a distance between themselves and you. What can you do ? Would it help if you -
1) Know your own job description and your boss and company's expectations - basically know that your role and goals and key performance indicators are in line with your company's.

2) Start keeping records for at least a month and note witnesses, time, dates and write factual notes on the incidences.

3) Keep all emails or correspondences you think that may support your claims of being a victim.

4) Be great if you had just ONE colleague who is a friend and who is able to verify or at least determine the authenticity of your victimization.

5) Seek advice from your HR head of department and support with your facts and records. Do you think it will work ? What do you say ? Me ? Nah.....
